A Chief Risk Officer (CRO) is a top level executive responsible for managing risk. As such, he has an integral role in the centralized risk management structure. As such, he deals with all kinds of risks faced by the organization. The RBI defines the roles of the CRO. As per RBI, CRO shall be a senior official in the banks’ hierarchy and shall have the necessary and adequate professional qualification/experience in the areas of risk management. The CRO shall have direct reporting lines to the MD & CEO / Risk Management Committee (RMC) of the Board.
