The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India had set up an expert committee in 1998 called “Project OASIS – Old Age Social and Income Security Project)” for devising a pension scheme for India. This committee was chaired by Dr. S.A. Dave. The report was submitted in January 2000 and paved the way for the National Pension Scheme on a defined contribution Pension basis.
