Rule ⇒ The words each, every, either and neither, used as pronouns or as adjectives, are always singular and require singular verbs. ‘Dish’ cannot be used because when neither is used, it is obvious that some comparison factor is involved and thus, more than one items are needed. Thus, only ‘dishes’ can be used. And according to the rule stated, with ‘neither of the dishes’, singular verb will be used, hence ‘tastes’ will be used.
