Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM-U) 2.0 has been launched on  October 1, 2021 for a period of five years with a vision of achieving Garbage Free Status for all cities through 100% source segregation, door to door collection and scientific management of all fractions of waste including safe disposal in scientific landfills. 5 percent of the total amount for SBM-G can be used for IEC and capacity building,with up to 3 per cent at the state and district levels, and up to 2 percent at the GoI-level. The fund sharing ratio is the same as for IHHLs under Phase II.
