    Greenhouse effect is the trapping and buildup of heat in the atmosphere near Earth’s surface. Some of the heat flowing back towards space from the Earth surface is absorbed by carbon dioxide, water vapour, methane and other gases in the atmosphere and then re radiated back towards Earth’s surface.
