IES Exam 2024: Eligibility Criteria
In order to qualify all the eligibility standards candidates must fill the basic educational qualification required for the exam. The minimum educational qualification to appear for the UPSC IES exam 2021 is a degree in the engineering discipline from a recognized university.
The eligibility details are given below:
Educational Qualification
- Candidates must have an Engineering degree from a recognized University.
- Candidates with M.Sc degrees in Electronics, Radiophysics, and Wireless Communication are also eligible.

Age Limit
- The minimum age is 21 years and the maximum age is 29 years
- Age Relaxation for SC/ST, and government service candidates are 5 years.
- Age Relaxation for OBC candidates is 3 years.

UPSC IES | Minimum Age: 21 years/ Maximum Age: 30 years on the 1st January, 2023 i.e., he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd January, 1993 and not later than 1st January, 2002. |
The upper age-limit of 30 years will be relaxable upto 35 years in the case of Government servants of the following categories, if they are employed in a Department/ Office under the control of any of the authorities mentioned in column 1 below and apply for admission to the examination for all or any of the Service(s)/Post(s) mentioned in column 2, for which they are otherwise eligible.

Nationality
- The candidate must be a citizen of India
- Citizens of Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibetan refugees are also eligible who came to India before January 01, 1962.
- Candidates of Indian origin who have migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar are also eligible.
