Age Limit (As on May 31, 2026)
The age limit for both posts is calculated as on the cut-off date of May 31, 2026. The maximum age indicated is for Unreserved category candidates; reserved category candidates are eligible for relaxation as per Government of India norms.

Educational Qualification (As on May 31, 2026)
Both posts require a graduate degree in Law or a Law Graduate from a recognized university in India as the mandatory qualification. Candidates with a 5-year integrated law course from a recognized university in India may be given preference.
Work Experience
Work experience is mandatory for both posts and must be post-enrolment with the Bar Council. The experience requirement differs by post level, as detailed in the table below.

SBI Law Officer 2026 Selection Process
The selection for both posts will be conducted in two stage. Admission to all stages is purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions.
- Stage 1: Online Written Test (tentatively August 2026)
- Stage 2: Interview
- Final Merit Formula: Written Test (70%) and Interview (30%)
The final merit list will be prepared based on normalised marks scored in the Online Written Test and Interview with a 70:30 weightage respectively.
SBI Law Officer 2026 Exam Pattern
The Online Written Examination consists of two parts an Objective Type Test and a Descriptive Type Test, each carrying 50 marks. Candidates must qualify in both tests individually; the merit list will be prepared based on the combined total score.

Objective Test Pattern
The Objective Test is divided into General Aptitude and Professional Knowledge. General Aptitude covers Test of Reasoning and English Language and is qualifying in nature; marks scored in this section will not be counted for arriving at the merit.
Only the Professional Knowledge paper marks are reckoned for the merit list. There is no negative marking for wrong answers in the Online Written Examination.

SBI Law Officer 2026 Grade, Pay Scale & Posting
Selected candidates will be placed in the pay scales applicable to their respective grades as per SBI Service Rules. In addition to basic pay, officers will be eligible for DA, HRA, CCA, Provident Fund, NPS, Leave Fare Concession (LFC), Medical Facility, and other perquisites as per rules in force from time to time.
