RBI Assistant Career Prospects

1) As an RBI Assistant, you will have ample opportunities to climb higher on the RBI Assistant promotion ladder.

RBI Assistant promotions are conducted every 3 years, and you need to qualify for the internal exam. There are two processes through which you get promoted to higher posts.

(a) Normal-Based - upon your year of service, experience and qualification in the internal exams.

(b) Merit-Based – after 3 years of service as an RBI Assistant with a JAIIB and CAIIB diploma with a Graduate/Post Graduate degree.

Also, there is no fixed pattern of the number of years when the internal examination will be conducted for higher grades. Depending upon the number of vacancies available in the bank, an internal exam will be conducted.

2) Upon selection, candidates will initially be assigned to RBI's Office in the Recruitment Zone corresponding to their application. However, they may be subject to transfer due to administrative requirements to offices grouped into West, South, North, and East Zones as detailed below:

(a) West Zone:

This includes Ahmedabad, Bhopal (including Raipur), Mumbai (including Belapur, Pune, and Panaji), and Nagpur.

(b) South Zone:

This encompasses Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Thiruvananthapuram (including Kochi).

(c) North Zone:

This covers Chandigarh (including Shimla), Jaipur, Jammu / Srinagar, Kanpur (including Lucknow & Dehradun), and New Delhi.

(d) East Zone:

This includes Bhubaneswar, Guwahati (including Shillong, Agartala, Aizwal, Imphal, Itanagar, Kohima), Kolkata (including Gangtok), and Patna (including Ranchi).
