EMRS Hostel Warden and JSA/Accountant Exam Pattern & Syllabus 2025
The Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS), under the National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS), has released the recruitment notification for 2025. This year, EMRS is inviting applications for non-teaching posts including Hostel Warden, Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), and Accountant.
These positions play a vital role in supporting the administration, management, and overall functioning of EMRS schools, which aim to provide quality education to tribal students across India.

EMRS Hostel Warden and JSA/Accountant Exam Structure 2025
The EMRS non-teaching examination is conducted in two tiers:
- Tier I: Common Written Test
- Tier II: Post-Specific Assessment
Tier I: A written objective test common for all three posts: Hostel Warden, JSA, and Accountant. This stage evaluates general aptitude, reasoning, language skills, and awareness.
The Tier I exam consists of 100 MCQs for 100 marks with a duration of 2 hours. It evaluates:
- Reasoning Ability
- Quantitative Aptitude
- General Awareness & Current Affairs
- English and Hindi Language
- Computer/ICT Basics
Tier II: Post-specific, evaluating skills required for each role.
- Hostel Warden: Hostel administration, student welfare, child protection laws, safety protocols, and record management.
- Accountant: Financial management, accounting principles, auditing, taxation, budgeting. Includes 40 objective (40 marks) + 15 descriptive (60 marks) questions (3 hours).
- JSA: Written test + typing/skill test in English or Hindi for administrative efficiency.

The syllabus is divided into Tier I (common) and Tier II (post-specific).
Tier I Syllabus
- Reasoning Ability: Puzzles, seating arrangements, coding-decoding, series, blood relations, statements & conclusions, directions, analytical reasoning.
- Quantitative Aptitude: Arithmetic, percentages, ratios, averages, profit & loss, time & work, speed & distance, SI/CI, data interpretation.
- General Awareness & Current Affairs: National/international events, Indian polity, constitutional provisions, education policies, tribal welfare, awards, sports, government initiatives.
- English Language: Grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, sentence correction, synonyms/antonyms, paragraph completion.
- Hindi Language: Grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, sentence formation, synonyms/antonyms, error detection.
- Computer/ICT Basics: MS Office, OS, internet/email, basic programming, keyboard shortcuts.
Tier II Syllabus
- Hostel Warden: Hostel management, student welfare, emergency procedures, record keeping, POCSO Act, RTE Act compliance.
- Accountant: Accounting principles, financial management, auditing, budgeting, taxation, government accounting rules, financial statement preparation.
- Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA): Typing accuracy (English/Hindi), office documentation, data entry, record management, administrative procedures.
EMRS Hostel Warden and JSA/Accountant Marking Scheme
Tier I: Each correct answer = 1 mark; wrong answer = -0.25 mark.
Tier II: Post-specific assessments (Hostel Warden: student welfare, JSA: typing/office admin, Accountant: finance & auditing). Final selection is based on combined scores.
