To be eligible to apply for the BARC 2024 exam, you must ensure that you fulfil the BARC eligibility criteria 2024 as specified in the notification. The cutoff date for judging your eligibility criteria is July 31, 2022. If you fail to meet the eligibility criteria, your candidature will be cancelled. Further details regarding the BARC eligibility criteria for the Stenographer and Work Assistant posts are discussed below.

BARC Educational Criteria 

The minimum educational criteria for the Stenographer post is that a candidate must have passed the class 10 exam with certain percentage of marks along with typing speed as mentioned below. If you are applying for the post of Work Assistant, you must have cleared your class 10 exam. There is no minimum marks criteria for this post. The detailed educational criteria for BARC exam can be understood from the table given below-

Posts Eligibility Criteria
Stenographer Grade – III
  • 10th pass with a minimum of 50% marks
  • Minimum speed of 80 words per minute in English Stenography
  • Typing speed in English of 30 words per minute.
Driver
  • 10th pass with minimum of 50% marks
  • Possession of a valid driving license to drive light and heavy vehicles
  • Experience in driving for at least 3 years and heavy vehicles for at least 6 years.
Work Assistant- A
  • 10th pass with minimum 50% marks

BARC Age Criteria

To be eligible to apply to the BARC 2024 recruitment, you must also meet the eligibility criteria that have been laid out. The age criteria for both the posts is the same. Further details on the age criteria for BARC exam 2024 has been discussed below.

  • Maximum Age: 27 Years

Age Relaxation

Just like any other competitive exam, the prescribed upper age limit will be relaxed for people belonging to reserved categories. Look at the table below to know more about the age relaxation of various categories-

OBC OBC Category should not have attained more than 30 years of age.
SC/ST SC/ST Category should not have attained more than 32 years of age.

FAQs

The maximum age to apply for the BARC exam is 27 years. Furthermore, you need to be 18 years old to apply for the BARC 2022 exam, which is the minimum age. However, the upper age limit will be relaxed for those candidates who belong to the reserved categories.
The BARC 2022 notification clearly states that candidates who have not fulfilled the minimum educational requirement i.e class 10 on the closing date of the receipt of the application will not be eligible to apply for the BARC 2022 exam.
No, there is no such age relaxation for the candidates belonging to the EWS category.
