On November 12, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch this scheme to allow retail investors to invest in government securities in an unproblematic way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RBI Retail Direct Scheme will allow retail investors to directly invest in Government Securities \/ G-secs by opening <strong>Gilt Accounts<\/strong>. The opening and maintaining of these government securities accounts will be free of cost. This account can be opened by filling up the online form, using the OTP received in the registered mobile number and e-mail id to authenticate and submit. G-secs are short term or long term securities acknowledging the Government\u2019s debt obligation. Such securities are practically at no risk and are often termed risk-free gilt-edged instruments. G-secs ensure that the investors receive the promised returns at the maturity time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Some Features of Retail Direct Scheme<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>RBI\u2019s Retail Direct Scheme is a one-stop solution to expedite investment in Government Securities<\/li><li>A step towards increasing retail participation in G-secs<\/li><li>The RDG account or Retail Direct Gilt Account will be opened through an online portal which will give registered users access to primary issuance of G-secs and Negotiated Dealing System-Order Matching system (NDS-OM)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>NDS-OM is a screen based, electronic, order driven trading system, introduced in August 2005 for dealing in Government Securities<\/li><li>Will bring transparency to secondary market transactions by enabling members to place bids and offers directly on the NDS-OM screen<\/li><li>RBI Retail Direct Scheme aims to facilitate Government Debt Securities ownership beyond banks and managers of pooled resources&nbsp;<\/li><li>Facilitate Government borrowing programme smooth completion<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Investments available under Retail Direct Scheme<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Government of India Treasury Bills&nbsp;<\/li><li>Government of India dated securities<\/li><li>Sovereign Gold Bonds (SGB)&nbsp;<\/li><li>State Development Loans (SDLs)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The scheme will improve ease of access of G-secs for small investors thus raising retail participation.
