{"id":4001,"date":"2020-06-11T11:00:51","date_gmt":"2020-06-11T11:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ixambee.com\/blog\/?p=4001"},"modified":"2021-05-24T13:04:48","modified_gmt":"2021-05-24T07:34:48","slug":"ayushman-bharatnational-health-protection-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.ixambee.com\/ayushman-bharatnational-health-protection-scheme","title":{"rendered":"Ayushman Bharat:National Health Protection Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em><strong>&#8220;The health of nations is more important than the wealth of nations-Will Durant\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is Ayushman Bharat Yojana?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ayushman Bharat <\/strong>is a National Health Protection Scheme launched on <strong>23<sup>rd<\/sup> September 2018 <\/strong>by our honourable <strong>Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi<\/strong> to achieve the vision of <strong>UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE (UHC). <\/strong>Ayushman Bharat was launched as recommended by the National Health Policy, 2017 and is entitled to cover 10 crore poor and vulnerable families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The initiative has been designed on the lines of meeting the <strong>Sustainable Development Goals or SDG <\/strong>and its commitment<strong>&#8211; Leave No One Behind. <\/strong>Ayushman Bharat focuses on taking path breaking interventions to holistically address health at primary, secondary as well as tertiary level. The two ongoing schemes-<strong> Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna and Senior Citizen Health Insurance Scheme<\/strong> are subsumed under it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Two Pronged Approach under the\nAyushman Bharat<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Two major initiatives undertaken under Ayushman Bharat are as\nfollows-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Health and Wellness Centres or HWGs<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>HWGs has been regarded as the\nfoundation of India\u2019s Health System as these centres will provide comprehensive\nhealth care ranging from non-communicable to maternal and child health care\nsystem. They will also provide free essential drugs and diagnostic services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna or PM-JAY<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Largest health assurance scheme in the world. It is fully funded by the government and the cost of implementation is shared between the Central and the State Government. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Some Key features of PM-JAY are as follows-<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It provides an insured sum of<strong> 5 lakh per family per year <\/strong>for secondary care as well as tertiary care hospitalization across Public and Private.<\/li><li>An entitlement-based scheme targeting the beneficiaries as identified by the&nbsp;latest<strong>&nbsp;Socio-Economic Caste Census or SECC data.<\/strong><\/li><li>Once identified by the database, the beneficiary is considered insured and the insured cost is shared by the Central and the State Government in the 60:40 ratio.<\/li><li>Benefits are portable across the country and the payment for the treatment will be done on a package rate that is to be defined by the Government.<\/li><li>These packaged rates are flexible, but once fixed hospitals can\u2019t change it and under no circumstances can they charge the beneficiary.
